So after taking all those check-in counter photos, there was still time left so I walked around a bit to check out the famous Edo Koji Zone, area for shops and restaurants modeled after the Edo period.

To go to the Edo Koji Zone, just take the escalator in the middle of the departure hall (as shown in picture above).

Once you get off the escalator, you can see the Edo period decorations and buildings.

So the tea house isn't open yet. They are still preparing. Let's go check out other gift stores and restaurants.

Looks like there were some people so there should be a store that's open for business right? um...not really :( I was too early, stores and restaurants still hadn't opened :(

One more level!!! Let's see what's up there, shall we?

So there are more shops called the Hot Zone and Cold Zone!? More stores that are CLOSED... :(

But at least there's the indoor and outdoor area for plane loves to see the planes. Unfortunately it's raining outside...so also no go for me :( So far no shopping no plane watching...So I went back to the departure hall level to check out JAL's Blue Sky Premium store instead, which is just right across from JAL's check-in counters.

Finally there's an open store and I can shop! Before my trip, I found out they were running a kit-kat promotion. If you spend 2,000 yen on kit-kat, you can get a free towel. I laughed at that and said who's going to spend that much on kit-kat. And of course I did. There were wasabi, almond, green tea, cheesecake, sakura matcha and soy sauce flavors and I bought most of them LOL Luckily I have 10% off discount with my JAL Global Club/JAL USA Card/JAL Family Club membership (no you can't combine the discounts to get 30% off :p)

So after spending a fortune at Blue Sky Premium (don't ask me how much :p), it's time to go through security. There's a bit of a line at the security check point but this is nothing compared to LAX :o Unfortunately there's no express lane for elites like the one at Narita (NRT). So just line up like everyone does.

You will have to scan the barcode on your boarding pass at the x-ray station and they will print out a ticket showing your name, flight, gate, and seat numbers! This is because you can use your cellphone as your boarding pass at HND. This way you will have a print out of all the info you need to locate your seat :)

After security, there are some duty free stores including the Tokyo Souvenir Shop, the same one at NRT T2. And after a bit more shopping (yea I know I shopped too much), I am off to the lounge.
