Discounts for using online check-in

Japan Airlines (JAL) has just rolled out a campaign to encourage its passengers to use the QuiC online check-in feature AND print out their own boarding passes or use the mobile version! You will be able to receive some not so attractive discounts at the airport. This campaign will run from Feb 15 till Sep 30 2012. These discounts include:

1. 200 yen discount for JAL ABC baggage delivery service at Haneda International Terminal and Narita Terminal 1 and 2
2. 500 yen off 10,000 yen at Haneda Duty free shops: TIAT Duty Free Shop North and Fashion Boutique
3. 5% off when you spend 5,000 yen or more at JAL DUTYFREE stores at Narita Terminal 2. This is not combinable with other JAL discounts and some goods are excluded.

To me this is not enough of an incentive to give up my real boarding pass. And with JAL affiliated credit cards, you get discounts at some of those duty free stores anyway. Nice try JAL but you need to try harder if you want to save the cost of printing out the board passes :p I guess you can simply print out the boarding pass but still go to the check-in counter and ask for a "real" one too :p

For more details of this campaign, you can refer to JAL website (Japanese only).
