Starting on December 2 2012, Japan Airlines (JAL) will extend the operation hours of the JAL First Class Lounge at the Satellite Building at Tokyo Narita Airport. The satellite First Class Lounge will open from 7:30 till 19:00 while the First Class Lounge at the Main Building will remain open until the last flight of the day.

I am not sure when JAL says First Class Lounge at the Main Building, does it mean both the lower and upper level ones. The newest upper level First Class Lounge opened on September 29 2012 currently has the same operation hours at the Satellite Building First Class Lounge which closes at 12:30. The extra capacity was to accommodate the morning rush especially with the Europe bound and US East Coast bound flights which all departs in the morning. So I am not sure if they will need that much more capacity during the afternoon. I guess we will have to wait till tomorrow to find out :)

Incidentally JAL is also launching the new Tokyo Narita - San Diego route on December 2 2012, which departs in the early evening. Not sure if the decision to extend the operation hours of the Satellite Building First Class Lounge has anything to do with this. Maybe JAL is expecting increased traffics to the First Class Lounge from the latest route expansion :) But either way it is good for travelers especially those who depart from the Satellite Building during the afternoon as they can just relax at the First Class Lounge closer to their departing gate.
